Words I Need to Remember

And here is a beautiful word from Beth Moore via Susanne's blog:

Dearly loved one
You’ve been called by God
To shine like a star
In a dark, depraved world
Don’t blend in
Refuse the daily temptation
To be absorbed in yourself
Take interest in others
Deliberately humble yourself
And live the life of a servant
As you live in the crisis
Of “continue to”
Keep working out
What God is working in
Watch your mouth
Choose words of life
And one glorious day
You will see the face of Christ
And He will show you
Every good purpose
He fulfilled through you
And there will be delight
Even if you are despised or ignored
You are Christ’s star
Go forth and shine

Here's a funny clip that I found on Alycia's blog. Enjoy!

It's been a long hard week here. Last Thursday, we found out that the Little Guy had the flu (he'd been vaccinated, but this was a different strain). By Monday, he still hadn't improved much, but it seemed normal to me since the flu can last for a week or so. His fever would come back every time the meds would wear off. Then Monday night, I was terrified to notice that he seemed much more congested, his breathing was labored, and I heard crackling sounds when he breathed. Everything I was reading online pointed to pneumonia. Tuesday morning, the doctor confirmed my fears by diagnosing him with pneumonia. And to top it all off, he had two ear infections as well! Poor guy. Well...my daughter was scheduled to have her routine checkup the next day. She woke up that morning complaining of ear pain (which is odd since she has never in her 4 years had an ear infection), and when the doc checked her he found out that she also has an ear infection. All of this would be bad enough, but you also have to realize that I have a raging sinus infection and my husband had outpatient surgery on Monday!!! Yikes! Thankfully, my husband has had a very easy recovery, and he's been able to help out. And my friend and neighbor (and mother of my little girl's best friend!) has helped out so much with my daughter.

One funny thing from all of this...
I was actually jealous of my husband for "getting" to have surgery! Can you believe that?! I hadn't had much sleep the night before because of the little guy's flu/pneumonia, so I was exhausted. Thinking about my husband getting to "sleep" for a couple of hours just made me sad that I couldn't do the same. And then I found out that he got MORPHINE before they sent him home, and I was jealous of that too! Too bad they didn't send any of that stuff home with him (or I guess it was a good thing, because that would have just been a little too tempting to me!)! Pretty sad case of mommy burnout if you ask me. I'm okay today...really (but the morphine still sounds pretty cool)!

Happy Mother's Day!

My daughter did a great job picking out her own clothes today (they actually matched!), so I praised her.

Me: Sugar, your outfit looks so pretty! You're so good with colors; I can see you being an artist or a clothes designer.

Daughter: But Mommy, I just want to be my little girls' Mommy (she says she'll have twins named Ally and Layla).

Me: That's the best job in the world.

Daughter: I'll be a clothes designer when they grow up.

Sounds great to me.
